Growing up in a family of clothing industry entrepreneurs, Ilyssa has always been a style and fashion lover. “As a teen, I was just obsessed with fashion, like so many girls are I would hoard fashion magazines and I would watch all of the makeover shows. I would even watch fashion shows… while eating cereal before going to high school” (5:30)

“I help women to define their true style and align their wardrobe with who they really are so that they can get out there and live their best life” (12:00)

“I think that the greatest gift you can give yourself is to love yourself… and personal styling is part of self-care in my mind” (14:00)

“For you to live your best life, there’s something that you have to unlock within yourself… living your best life is showing up how you are right now, and you can start transforming your life immediately” (14:30)

When it comes to cultivating confidence and self-love, Ilyssa swears by positive affirmations. She says, “you say these words enough to yourself, and you WILL have a mindset shift” (22:00)

“Fashion and style are two different things. Fashion often comes form a place of lack— the things you need in order to be complete, or for your wardrobe to be complete. And style is more about looking within, and it’s loving yourself, and your body right in this very moment, and it’s working with the clothing that you already own” (25:00)

Ilyssa’s steps for defining and executing your own personal style:

• Figure out how you want to feel and how you want others to see you

• Create a style roadmap that serves as a moodboard/guidelines for your style

• Go through your closet and figure out what pieces fit your true style

• Shop for any pieces needed to fill in the gaps

Three things that every woman should have in her wardrobe:

1. A great pair of jeans that fits really well

2. A top that makes you feel amazing

3. A “super power” item that instantly makes you feel like a badass that can conquer the world

When it comes to trends, Ilyssa says “whatever the season, year, or trends… appreciate them, but pause for a second and look at your wardrobe… If it doesn’t fit in, do not buy it” and “you can’t rely on trends to feel like you” (35:00)

Ilyssa also shares her experiences with chronic illness and autoimmune disease (40:00)

“I don’t torture myself anymore with waiting to lose those 10 pounds. I just say ‘okay, I’m here, I’m alive, I survived, and I’m gonna show up as I am’” (46:30)
